Probe body visits Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI, Sept 29 (UNB): The probe body formed to investigate the recent violence in the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) started its activities through visiting the Larma Square Bazar, which was set of fire on September 19, in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari district on Sunday.
Led by Chattogram additional divisional commissioner and the chief of the probe committee, Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, additional district magistrate of Khagrachhari district Rozline Shahid Chowdhury, additional superintendent of police (Sadar circle) Tafiqul Alam, Dighinala upazila nirbahi officer Md Mamunur Rashid were present there.
They also visited the affected market and shops and talked to the affected traders and witnesses.
During the visit, they were informed about the violence. They requested all to live in peace after maintaining the communal harmony among them.
Nurullah Nuri said the report will be submitted after unearthing the reason behind the incident through analyzing the video footages and reports published in the daily newspapers, recording the deposition of the eye witnesses and taking opinions of the experts.
Earlier, the government formed the seven-member probe body to investigate the recent violence in Khagrachhari and Rangamati districts.
The committee was asked to submit its report within two weeks.
