Prof Kanak Kanti Barua new VC of BSMMU

The government has appointed Prof Kanak Kanti Barua, a neurosurgeon, as the new vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMUU), reports bdnews24.com.
"The health ministry informed me of the appointment," said Barua, the chairman of the Neurosurgery Department and dean of the Surgery Department, on Thursday.
A leader of the professionals' body supporting the ruling Awami League, Prof Barua will replace Prof Kamrul Hasan Khan.
He will remain in the post for three years after taking office on March 24, when Prof Hasan ends his term.
Prof Barua completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 1977 and holds the position of president of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons.
