Protest rallies held over attack on Faridpur surgeon

A rally was held in front of the National Press Club in city on Friday protesting against a violent attack on Dr Shahin Zoddar, an orthopaedic surgeon at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Faridpur district is also in a turmoil over the attack on Dr Zoddar and witnessing protests and demonstrations condemning the incident.

Human chains have been held across the district town since Wednesday, demanding exemplary punishment for the attackers.

The officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, Md Asaduzzaman, said that three suspected attackers have been arrested and efforts are underway to hunt down the remaining accused.

The incident of attack took place on Tuesday afternoon when Dr Shahin was coming out from the trauma centre of the hospital.

A student of ZM Private Nursing Institute, identified as Muttakim, reportedly pushed Dr Shahin, leading to an altercation and eventually the attack.
