RAB arrest five with 0.12m Yaba tablets in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five suspected drug dealers and recovered 0.12 million (1.20 lakh) pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Bashundhara residential area in the city on Monday, reports UNB.

The arrestees are identified as Sirajul Islam alias Rubel (32), his wife Sumiya Sultana Riya (24), Mofijul Islam (28), Md Shaker (24), and microbus driver Jasim Uddin.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team of RAB-1 conducted a raid at a flat located on the 4th floor of a multi-storied building at Plot-150, Road-10 in Block-G of Bashundhara residential area at 3:20 am.

During the raid, the elite force recovered 20,000 pieces of Yaba pills from the flat and 0.1 million pieces from inside a microbus which was parked in the building, said a Rab-1 official.

The flat was used as the distribution point of Yaba consignment. The seized microbus was being used to carry Yaba tablets from Dhaka to other districts including Khulna, Jessore and Benapole.
