RAB nab four 'drug traders' with Yaba

SYLHET, July 07 (UNB): Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives arrested four suspected drug traders along with 2,110 pieces of Yaba tablets from Zakiganj Upazila in Sylhet and EPZ area of Chattogram on Friday night and Saturday.

In Sylhet, RAB members arrested a suspected drug trader along with 2,010 Yaba tablets from Eidgao Bazar area in Zakiganj Upazila on Saturday.

The arrestee was identified as Md Faruk Ahmed, 33, son of Nuruddin of Loharmahar village in Zakiganj Upazila, and a listed drug trader, according to a press release issued by RAB-9.

In Chattogram, RAB members arrested three suspected drug traders along with 100 Yaba tablets from labour colony area in EPZ area on Friday night.

The arrestees were identified as Md Anwar Hossain alias Nur Hossain (25), son of late Sultan Ahmed of Baroliya village of Shitakunda Upazila, Md Babul Ahmed (38), son of late Foyez Ahmed of South Halisahar area of EPZ, Md Alamgir (45), son of late Altaf Hossain of Hasun Nagar village in Bhola Sadar Upazila.

Being tipped-off, members of RAB-7 carried out a drive around 10:40 pm on Friday and arrested the trio with 100 Yaba pills worth of Tk 50,000.

It also said they use to trade Yaba tablets for a long time.

Later, the arrestees were handed over to EPZ Police Station, it added.
