RAB shut down five coaching centres in city

Five coaching centres defying government's ban in the city's Farmgate area during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations were sealed off on Sunday.

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) carried out the raid and sentenced eight persons to one month's jail each. Executive magistrate of RAB-2 Sarwar Alam sealed off Onanya, Blaze, Nabadiganta Academy, Moy Dick and Joy Jatra coaching centres during a drive in Sunday morning.

Owners of the coaching centres were running business by hanging a "closed" sign on the main gates, Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said.
