RAB to step up patrols in capital during Eid

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will intensify patrols in the capital city during the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation to check thefts and robbery.

RAB-4 Commander Lt Col Md Mahbub Alam disclosed the information on Thursday.

He said the elite force has taken three-tier security measures to ensure safety and security for homeward-bound passengers and those who will stay in Dhaka. Both plain-clothes and uniformed RAB members will carry out their responsibilities during the festival.

He said 24 patrol teams of RAB are discharging their duties at bus terminals and crowded shipping malls in the city. As part of second-tier security measures, plain-clothes RAB personnel have been deployed at the bus stands to combat muggers and members of ‘Agyan Party’. Also RAB has striking mobile reserve team led by a magistrate in case of any untoward eventualities, he said.

He urged individuals to ensure the safety and security of their flats or houses as much as possible before departing the capital. He also requested them not to eat or drink anything offered by any strangers during their journey.
