RCC opens free oxygen service

RAJSHAHI, June-18: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has opened a free oxygen service camp for Covid-19 patients at its Bangabandhu Corner on Thursday.

Rajshahi city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the oxygen camp introduced with financial support from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The mayor also handed over 40 oxygen cylinders to the civil surgeon of Rajshahi Dr Quium Talukder to use those outside the city area.

Moreover, 30 oxygen cylinders were also distributed among 30 ward councillors under RCC to use those in respective wards, if necessary.

The mayor said from now on a person suffering from shortage of oxygen or from breathing problem will get a free supply of oxygen by calling the RCC hot number 01758-901903 or by contacting office of the ward councillor concerned.

The service will remain open round the clock.

Not only oxygen but also food and medicine for a coronavirus patient will be provided from RCC, if needed.

The inaugural function was attended, among others, by ward councillors Shariful Islam Babu, Rajab Ali, Abdul Hamid Sarker Tekon, Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive of RCC Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, RCC Secretary Mashiur Rahman and Chief Health Officer Dr FAM Anjuman Ara Begum.
