Road crashes kill six across country

At least six people, including a schoolboy, were killed in separate road accidents in Habiganj, Thakurgaon and Satkhira districts and in the city on Friday, reports UNB.

In Savar, two motorcyclists were killed on the spot when a bus rammed a motorbike on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Aminbazar Truck Stand around 7:30 am, said Mohsinul Quadir, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station.

The deceased were identified as Sujat (25) and Shafiq Ahmed (26), hailing from Pabna district.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue.

In Habiganj, a schoolboy was killed as a battery-run easy-bike hit him at Richi village in Sadar Upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Joy (10), son of Akbar Miah, a resident of the area.

Witnesses said the easy-bike ran over Joy while he was playing in front of his house in the morning, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Sadar Adhunik Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

In Thakurgaon, two people were killed and 14 others injured in a head on collision between a bus and a covered van on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway in Sadar Upazila in the morning.

The deceased were identified as covered van driver Sajjad (50), and bus passenger Masiur (35).

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station.

In Satkhira, a man was killed as a truck ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot in Debhata upazila around 1 pm, said Sub-inspector Yamin Ali of Debhata Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Monirul Islam (32), son of Abul Hossain of Parulia Fulbari village in the upazila.
