'Robber', murder accused die in 'firing', 'gunfight'

CUMILLA, May 14 (UNB): An alleged robber was killed in a reported firing incident over an abortive attempt by his fellow gang members to free him from a mob in Gumkot village of Nangalkot Upazila in the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Delowar Hossain (25).

Officer-in-charge of Nangalkot Police Station Mohammad Ayub said a gang of robbers attacked a house at Gumkot village and neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing scream of the house inmates.

Meanwhile, a murder accused was killed in a reported gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of police in Tinkona Pukurpar area of the district town early Monday. The deceased was identified as Sarfan Islam Babu, accused in several cases including for Peu Baba murder.
