RAJSHAHI, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS): The Rajshahi University (RU) unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has announced its 23-member panel to contest in the upcoming RU Central Students' Union (RUCSU) election.
JCD Central Organising Secretary Amanullah Aman formally announced the panel at a programme at the RU Central Shaheed Minar on Friday.
As per the announcement, RU JCD vice-president Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir will contest for the post of RUCSU vice-president (VP), while office secretary Nafiul Islam Jibon for general secretary (GS), and joint general secretary Jahin Biswas Esha for assistant general secretary (AGS)
Other candidates in the panel include Nargish Khatun (sports secretary), Mahfuzur Rahman Shaon (assistant sports secretary), Abdullah Al Kafi (cultural secretary), Shahriar Alam Orthi (assistant cultural secretary), Swapna Akter (women secretary), Nusrat Ishita (assistant women secretary), Gazi Ferdous Hassan (information and research secretary), Redwanul Islam Ridoy (assistant information and research secretary), Rafayetul Islam Rabit (media and publication secretary), and Nur Nabi (assistant media and publication secretary).
Besides, Maruf Hossain (science and technology secretary), Naimul Hossain Nayeem (assistant science and technology secretary), Masum Billah (debate and literary secretary), Zishan Babu (assistant debate and literary secretary), A R Rafi Khan (environment and social welfare secretary), and Kunjashri Roy (assistant environment and social welfare secretary) were also named in the panel.
Minarul Islam Megh, Sayeed Hassan Ibne Ruhul, Mahbub Murshed Illin, and Ashraful Islam were nominated to contest for the four executive member posts.
The RUCSU election is scheduled to be held on September 25, marking a historic return of student representation at the RU after a long hiatus of 35 years. Polling will take place in the academic buildings of the university from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the day.
According to the revised election schedule, nomination papers were distributed till September 3, while submissions were accepted from September 4 to 7. Scrutiny of the nomination papers was conducted on September 8 and 9.
The preliminary list of candidates was published on September 10, and the candidates may withdraw their nominations on September 13, and the final list will be published on September 14. Necessary preparations for holding the election are going on in full swing, creating a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere on the campus.
