Devotion, reverence, and youthful enthusiasm filled the Jagannath Hall premises of Dhaka University (DU) on Friday as Saraswati Puja was celebrated in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

From early morning, the sound of conch shells and ululation echoed across the hall, while devotees offered flowers and prayers to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and creativity.

According to Sanatan beliefs, Saraswati is the supreme source of learning and artistic expression.

Like every year, the auspicious occasion of Shri Panchami in the bright fortnight of the month of Magh was marked with grand celebrations. The puja once again became a major attraction across the university, symbolising harmony and communal coexistence.

Traditionally, Jagannath Hall remains the heart of Saraswati Puja celebrations at DU. Continuing this legacy, an exquisite idol of the goddess was installed in the middle of the hall pond this year, crafted by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The beautifully designed idol drew large crowds and admiration from visitors.

A key highlight of this year's celebration is the 76 artistically designed mandaps set up across the hall's vast playground. To ensure a safe celebration, maximum importance was given to security.

The university's Vice-Chancellor, Pro-VCs (Administration and Academic), Treasurer, and Proctorial team closely monitored the situation.
