SC resumes activities today after vacation

Regular judicial proceedings in the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court (SC) will resume today (Sunday) following the December vacation, marking the beginning of judicial activities for the new year, reports BSS.
Newly appointed Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury will preside over judicial proceedings in the Appellate Division for the first time.
At the beginning of the day, the Supreme Court Bar Association will accord a reception to the Chief Justice at 10:30 am in courtroom No. 1 of the Appellate Division. Extensive preparations have been taken across the SC premises to welcome the newly appointed Chief Justice.
Earlier, Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury took oath as the country's 26th Chief Justice on December 28. Due to the vacation, today will mark his first working day on the bench as Chief Justice.
