Seven sent to jail

A Dhaka court on Friday sent seven accused to jail in connection with an extortion case involving prominent kidney specialist Dr Kamrul Islam's Center for Kidney Diseases and Urology (CKDU) Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli area, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order after a hearing, following a petition filed by investigating officer, sub-inspector Sabbir Ahmed.

The accused sent to jail are main suspect Moin Uddin, Sawon Hossen, Sopon Kazi, Falan Mia, Md Rubel, Md Suman and Md Liton Mia. CKDU operation theatre in-charge Md Hanif filed the case on April 11, naming Moin Uddin as the prime accused.
