Shakespeare great literary genius: Prof Anupam Sen

CHITTAGONG, Jan 25: Noted social scientist and vice-chancellor of Premier University Prof Anupam Sen has said William Shakespeare is the greatest writer, literary genius and dramatist of English literature.

"The time he did his literary works had a very small population in the world, but now the entire world is reading his dramas, poems and other works. His greatest works include Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar etc," said Dr Sen who was awarded Ekushey Padak for his works on education.

"The works of Shakespeare are very high in depth, art and style and that is why his works are eternal, unfading and evergreen," he said while addressing as the chief guest at a reception of the newcomers of the 33rd batch of English Department of Premier University on the university campus at GEC Intersection in the city on Thursday.

Chaired by chairman of Department of English of the university Prof Sadat Zaman, the programme was also addressed, among others, by founder-chairman of English Department Prof Muhit Ul Alam.
