Six more die of dengue, 1,195 hospitalised

The dengue situation continues to worsen, with six more deaths and 1,195 new hospitalisations recorded across the country in the 24 hours until Sunday morning, reports UNB.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest figures bring this year's total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 313. Of the new fatalities, two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, two in Dhaka North City Corporation, and two in Barishal Division.

During the same period, 1,195 new patients were admitted to hospitals, raising the total number of dengue cases reported this year to 78,543. Currently, 1,150 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, while 3,337 patients remain admitted across the country.

The DGHS report also said 62.3 per cent of this year's dengue patients were male and 37.7 per cent female. Among the deceased, 52.7 per cent were men and 47.3 per cent women.
