Six snatchers arrested in city

Police arrested six persons as they were preparing to commit robbery and snatching during separate raids in Shahbagh and Sadarghat areas in the capital on Thursday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile team of Shahbagh police station nabbed three robbers while they were taking preparation for robbery on the north side of 'Eternal Flame' gate at Suhrawardy Udyan.

The miscreants were caught in possession of three knives. The arrestees were identified as Md Roni (29), Md Humayun Kabir (25) and Md Anwar (40).

However, others managed to escape the scene sensing the presence of police.

The arrestees confessed their involvement in acts of robbery and mugging.

Efforts are underway to nab other miscreants.

In another drive, the police also nabbed three muggers in Sadarghat area. They are Masud alias Robin (24), Md Saiful Islam (25) and Md Saiful Islam alias Al Amin (19).

A mobile police team of Kotwali police station arrested them on Thursday evening while they were preparing to commit mugging.

Lethal weapons, including knives, were also recovered from their possession.
