Six to die for killing Kushtia van-puller

KUSHTIA, Feb 07 (UNB): A court here on Tuesday sentenced six people to death in a case filed over the killing of a van-puller in Sadar upazila in 2012.

The condemned convicts are Sajjad, Majed, Shukchad, Rashidul Islam, Kalai and Monser.

According to the prosecution, Sajjad and Majed called van driver Abu Bakkar Siddique, son of Abdul Jalil of Jotpara village in Sadar upazila, out of the house on June 10, 2012.

Local people found the body of Bakkar near his house on the following day and informed the police.

Nur Haque, brother of the deceased, filed a case against seven people with Kushtia Model Thana.

Of the seven accused, Kamrul Islam was killed in a gunfight with police. After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of District and Sessions Judge's Court Reza Mohammad Alamgir Hasan Islam handed down the verdict in presence of the convicts.
