Strengthen ties with China thru cultural exchanges: Dipu Moni

Acknowledging China's constant support to Bangladesh, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Friday said relationship between the two countries can be further strengthened through cultural exchanges, reports UNB.

She said this while addressing an event, marking the 70th founding anniversary of China.

A joint exhibition was inaugurated by the Minister at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's National Art Gallery.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming, State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's Director Liaquat Ali Lucky, Bangladesh-China Friendship Center's Chairman Md Delwar Hossain and Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh's Chairman Lin Weiqiang attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests.

Expressing the heartfelt respect and affection to the cultural bonding of two countries, Chinese Ambassador Li Jiming said, "As Chinese saying goes, friends and neighbours become closer when they visit each other more often.

Chinese Embassy will, as always, support cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between our two countries."

He expressed the hope that the group exhibition will become a window for the Bangladeshi people to learn more about China and bring their hearts closer beyond distance and space.

The two-week exhibition includes 'Our Silk Road' and 'Beautiful China' photo exhibitions, the 18th 'Dreamland China' Bangladesh children art competition and exhibition, "Express your Chinese story by painting" youth art exhibition and "Bangladesh and China on the Belt and Road" photo exhibition.

Chinese dancing troupe from Yunnan Huadeng Opera Theater presented their tremendous thematic dance performances at the ceremony.

The joint exhibition is organised by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, in association with China Media Group, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh-China Friendship Centre, Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh, Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh and other friendly organisations.

Scheduled to be concluded on October 10, the exhibition is considered as the largest Chinese exhibition ever organised in Bangladesh.
