FE REPORT
The house help, identified as Ayesha, fled with a mobile phone, a laptop, some gold jewellery, and cash after the murders of her employer and the latter's teenage daughter in the capital's Mohammadpur area on Monday, according to the case statement.
Laila Afroz and her 15-year-old daughter Nafisa Nawal Binte Aziz were found dead at home on the Shahjahan Road.
The attack was allegedly carried out by Ayesha, who had begun working there only four days earlier.
The family members said the missing gold included a chain and earrings belonging to Laila.
A relative of the victims said the family had not been able to fully determine what valuables were taken away, as they were occupied with the burials.
They initially found a mobile phone, jewellery, and some cash were missing.
Besides, he said they later went outside the house as the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) forensic team began collecting evidence.
"We then became occupied with the arrangements at the hospital and at the village home in Natore for the burials."
He added that the keys to the flat and other lockers had gone missing a day before the murders. The family suspected the house help might have taken the keys to make off with the valuables.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP Tejgaon division Jewel Rana said there had been some progress in the case.
"We conducted two drives to arrest the house help last night, but failed. We are continuing our efforts with the assistance of detectives and have also sought help from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the army."
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and the CID had collected samples, including hair of the suspect.
"We hope to share good news soon."
He also said some information about the woman was available even though she had only worked there for four days.
Moreover, the family had no phone communication with her, and her face was not captured by the building's CCTV cameras as she was wearing a burqa.
Rana said the murder weapons recovered from the flat appeared to have been brought from outside.
