FE REPORT
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested on Saturday three persons for their alleged involvement in issuing a fake bomb threat to a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
The Kathmandu-bound Biman Flight BG-373 was thrown into a chaos when an anonymous caller claimed a bomb was on board the plane at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The plane made an emergency landing and authorities scoured every inch of the aircraft for explosives. But no bomb was found.
RAB Director General and Additional Inspector General of Police (additional IGP) AKM Shahidur Rahman at a press briefing in the capital's Karwan Bazar told the media that they arrested three persons in connection with the fake bomb threat.
"We've arrested three people in connection with this incident, which stems from a family dispute," he said.
He said that a mother's desperate bid to derail her son's extramarital escapade led to the fake bomb threat that grounded the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
The dramatic incident forced a three-hour search, three arrests, and a tale of family betrayal.
The call came from the mother determined to prevent her son from jetting off with his lover.

The RAB official said that the man was planning a romantic getaway to Kathmandu with his estranged lover.
His wife and mother came to know of it, and the mother, tipped off by her son's friend, called the air traffic control and conveyed the fake bomb threat to stop him from flying abroad, he said.
