Three held over mob attack on Gulshan house

FE REPORT | March 06, 2025 00:00:00

The joint forces have arrested three persons on charges of their involvement in the mob attack on a house in the capital's Gulshan on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Shakil Khandakar (24) Jewel Khandakar (48) and Shakil Ahmed (28).

The attacked house was said to be presumably owned by Tanvir Imam, son of HT Imam, an adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Different media reports said intruders, identifying themselves as local residents, carried out a 'search' in the house on information that a large cache of illegal weapons and cash were hidden inside and people involved in killing of student protesters were detained there.

The crowd gathered near the house adjacent to Shahabuddin Park in Gulshan 1. At one stage, they broke open the door of the house.

The mob then ransacked wardrobes, shoe boxes, lockers, trolley bags and beds. The entire incident was broadcast live by different private TV channels.

A police official at Gulshan Police Station said the caretaker of the house, Abdul Mannan, has filed a complaint which is currently under process.
