Tk 18m gold seized at HSIA

Customs intelligence team recovered over three (3.0)-kilogrammes of gold from a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital on Friday.

An official of Dhaka Customs House told the FE they had recovered several pieces of gold bars of different forms weighing three kilogramme and 70 grams after scanning his luggage.

He landed at the airport from Italy on early hours of Friday.

The market value of the gold is estimated around over Tk 18 million.

The Customs team also arrested the passenger named Amranul Haque.

A case was filed against him under Customs Act at Airport Police Station in the capital.
