Traffic guidelines issued for Mirpur

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday issued traffic directives for Mirpur and its adjoining areas on the occasion of BPL Music Festival beginning at 2:00 pm today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur-10.

DMP Commissioner Md Sajjad Ali announced the guidelines in a public notice which is effective from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

As per the notice, vehicles intending to move towards Mirpur 1, 10,11,12 and 14 must use Mirpur Zoo road, passing through Sony Cinema Hall, Rainkhoka crossing and Proshikha intersection.

Vehicles traveling from Mirpur 12 to Mirpur-10 intersection should follow original 10 intersection and then taking a right turn and use Proshikha intersection.

For vehicles heading to Mirpur-10 via Agargaon and those travelling to Mirpur -1 and Mirpur-12 must avoid Mirpur-10 intersection.

Instead, they should use Shyamoli Shishu Mela-Technical intersection and Soni Cinema Hall crossing and Rainkhoka crossing to reach Mirpur-10, Mirpur-1 and Mirpur-12.

The DMP has sought cooperation from city dwellers to maintain traffic discipline and avoid traffic jams during the event.

Meanwhile, Additional Police Commissioner (traffic) of DMP Khandaker Nazmul Hasan said that individuals can now receive police clearance certificates within seven days after submitting applications online.

"You don't need to communicate with anybody. Apply online and you will get it," he said while exchanging views with people and students at Kadamtoli Police Station in the capital on Saturday.
