The two city corporations of Dhaka have decided to set up a total of 19 temporary cattle markets, along with two permanent ones, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the second-largest religious festival for Muslims, to be celebrated next month, reports BSS.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will set up 10 temporary cattle markets, supplementing its permanent facility in Gabtoli, while Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) plans to arrange nine temporary markets in addition to its permanent one in Sarulia.

The temporary cattle markets will operate for five days, including the Eid day, allowing the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals at designated locations.

Both city corporations have already called for tenders to finalise the leasing of these markets. The lease for each site will be awarded to the highest bidder.

However, if the bids do not meet the expected rates at any location, those sites will be re-tendered, according to officials of the property departments of the two city corporations.
