ULAB holds confce on refugees

A two-day conference on "Refugees in the Public Imagination: Discourse on (Dis)location and (Dis)placement" organised by the Department of English and Humanities of University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh (ULAB) ended on its campus in the city Saturday.

A two-day conference on "Refugees in the Public Imagination: Discourse on (Dis)location and (Dis)placement" organised by the Department of English and Humanities of University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh (ULAB) ended on its campus in the city Saturday, according to a press release.

The conference was inaugurated by Chairman of the University Grants Commi-ssion (UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan while the welcome address was delivered by ULAB Vice-Chancellor Dr Jahirul Haque.

ULAB Head of the Department of English and Humanities Dr Shamsad Mortuza expressed the vote of thanks.

The first day of the conference commenced with academic Dr Anjali Gera Roy's keynote speech titled, 'Migration, Mobility, Immobility.' Dr Roy is a Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.

A panel discussion was moderated by Prof Imran Rahman, special adviser to the board of trustees at ULAB.

The second and final day of the two- day International conference began with Dr Debjani Sengupta presented her keynote paper.
