Unfit vehicles to be barred from roads during Eid: Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Choudhury has said no unfit vehicle will be allowed to operate on roads even after their facelift during the upcoming Eid travel, reports UNB.

"Sometimes vehicle owners try to cover unfit vehicles by giving them a fresh coat of paint and then send them onto the roads. But let me be clear -- no such vehicle will be allowed to ply under any condition," he said while talking to reporters in front of his office at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

He urged transport owners to ensure adequate rest for drivers ahead of long journeys. The government has cancelled all leave for law enforcement personnel across the country to ensure the safety of people and property.
