Uprising victims to be recognised as 'July Martyrs, Warriors'

Those killed in July movement will be recognised as 'July Martyrs' while the injured victims will be known as 'July Warriors', reports UNB.

"Those martyred in the July uprising will receive certificates and identity cards, the injured ones will receive identity cards as 'July Warriors' and they will also be entitled to other government benefits," Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam told media on Monday.

He was talking to reporters on the second day of the Deputy Commissioners' Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Monday.

"The process of forming the July Directorate is at its final stage. It will be established within this week, and a policy has already been formulated for its operation," said the adviser.

"Families of the martyrs will receive Tk 3.0 million (30 lakh) through savings certificates. Tk 1.0 million will be provided in the current fiscal year and the rest in the next fiscal year," Farooq-e-Azam said.

Severely injured victims will receive lifelong medical care and a monthly allowance of Tk 20,000 along with a one-time payment of Tk 0.5 million, said the adviser.

"Those who lost a limb will receive a monthly allowance of Tk 15,000 and a one-time payment of Tk 300,000. Injured vicitms who have recovered after receiving treatment will be prioritised for employment and rehabilitation programmes but will not receive any allowance," he added.

Besides, the injured will receive training at various levels and be given priority for employment in government, semi-government, and other sectors based on merit, said the adviser.
