USAID support to hill people will continue : Bernicat

BANDARBAN, Mar 14: US Ambassador in Bangladesh Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat has said US Agency for International Development (USAID) will continue expansion of its supports in improving the lives of people and bringing peace in the hill region.

The ambassador made the comments on Wednesday while talking to reporters after holding separate meetings with chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council Kaisihallah, king of the Bomang Circle Engineer Utch Pru Chowdhury and Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain.

During the meeting, the ambassador discussed the progress of ongoing development programmes carried out by USAID for the improvement of the lives of the marginalised people of the region.

Officials of USAID and district administration were also present at the meeting.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aslam Hossain said, "We talked to the US ambassador about important issues of development programmes.” “USAID has been implementing some development works in Bandarban. She came here to enquire about the developmental works,” he added.
