Varsity student dies falling off moving train in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Feb 09 (UNB): A private university student was killed as he fell off a running train at Tarua in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified Kazi Moshiur Rahman Hadid, 24, a third year student of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in the capital and son of Hamdur Rahman of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj.

Assistant sub-inspector Shah Alam, in-charge of Narsingdi Government Railway Police Outpost, said Hadid, who came here to visit one of his friends' house, boarded Dhaka-bound Upakul train coming from Noakhali at Narsingdi Railway Station to return home.

He was standing near the door of the compartment as it was overcrowded.

At one stage, a bag he was carrying fell off his hand and he tried to grab it.

However, the youth fell off the train and was run over by it, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to family, Shah Alam said.
