The road outside the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery is almost empty. Some CNG-powered autorickshaws and rickshaws are operating, while journalists are standing on the pavement, waiting for updates, reports bdnews24.com.
Police and Army personnel are lined up at the entrance. No one is being allowed to enter except the patients' relatives and hospital staff.
In front of the hospital, both organisations and individuals have gathered to serve victims. Some are assisting patients' relatives by arranging blood donors, while others are providing drinking water and saline as needed. Such was the scene outside the burn institute on Wednesday.
A large number of students injured in the jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka's Diabari are being treated at the institute. A help desk had been set up near the entrance gate and several Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists were seated, assisting the relatives of patients. Shamim Akter Shuvo, joint general secretary of Chhatra Dal's Dhaka University unit, was at the group's help desk.
