Woman dies in Cumilla gas cylinder blast

CUMILLA, March 11(BSS): A newlywed woman was burnt to death in a fire allegedly caused by gas cylinder blast at her Dhewatali residence in Jhalam union under Barura upazila on Friday morning.

The dead is identified as Yasmin (21), wife of Md Rezaul Karim. They got married one month ago.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, a gas cylinder exploded at Yasmin's residence around 6:00 am and immediately the fire spread to the whole room where she was sleeping.

"Yasmin was roasted alive in that fire," said officer-in-charge (OC) of Barura thana Iqbal Bahar Majumder.

During the incident, her husband was in mosque for Fazr prayers, he said, adding: "The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately."

"We are investigating the matter," the OC added.
