Woman held with yaba worth Tk 4.7m in city

The Detective Branch (DB) of DMP on Monday arrested a woman and seized 15,840 pieces of yaba tablets, worth Tk 4.7 million. The arrestee was identified as Ayesha Siddiqa (31).

A team of DB police conducted a raid and nabbed her from near Jatrabari Ideal School and College.

Police said she confessed her involvement with drugs trading for a long time in Jatrabari and other areas.

Meanwhile, DB police on Wednesday arrested Md Murad Hossain, former ward commissioner of ward no 12, Mirpur, Dhaka, from Ahmed Nagar, Mirpur. In another drive, DB police arrested three Awami League stalwarts for their alleged involvement in attacking the protesters of students' movement against discrimination last year.

The trios were produced before the court.
