Writ seeks Tk 5.0m compensation for each victim's family

A writ petition has been filed on Monday with the High Court seeking its directives upon the respondents including Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company to give Tk 5.0 million as compensation to each family of the victims who died and suffered injuries from the Narayanganj mosque blast.
Barrister Mar-e-um Khondaker, a Supreme Court lawyer, submitted the writ petition as a public interest litigation.
The petition also prayed to the High Court to pass an order to the service providing organisations like gas, electricity supply, water supply, telephone department etc to continue with the routine check up regularly to maintain their service up to the mark.
Senior secretary of the Ministry of Power, secretary of the Ministry of Home, Narayanganj City Corporation represented by its mayor, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company represented by its managing director, deputy general manager of Titas Gas, and deputy commissioner and police superintendent of Narayanganj have been made respondents in the petition.
The explosion occurred at West Tallah Baytus Salat Jame Mosque of Narayanganj after Esha prayers on Friday.
