0.46m postal ballots missed deadline

Nearly 0.46 million postal ballots did not reach returning officers of the 13th parliamentary election till Thursday.

It means the ballots will not be taken into consideration as the deadline expired at 4:30pm on the day.

Of the 15,33,684 registered postal voters, returning officers received over 1.0 million ballots till the election day, according to the official data.

The data shows 772,546 voters registered under the Overseas Citizen Voter (OCV) category, while 761,138 enrolled for the In-Country Postal Voter (ICPV).

Postal voting has been a key mechanism enabling overseas Bangladeshis and eligible in-country voters to exercise their franchise.
