3-day DC conference begins tomorrow

A three-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference 2014 will begin tomorrow (Tuesday) in the capital, official said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at Shapla Hall of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) at Tejgaon.

"The DC conference is very important since they are implementing the government decisions at the grassroots level. The DCs will exchange their views directly with the ministers and the secretaries at the upcoming DC Conference 2014,"cabinet secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told the media Sunday about the programme at the conference room of the cabinet division at Bangladesh Secretariat.

He said, "DCs are not the people's representatives. They are the government representatives. It is the duty of the DCs to implement the government policy and programme and to coordinate with people concerned. Besides they (DCs) also inform the government about local people's aspiration and demand," Mr Bhuiyan said.
