ACC sues ex-state minister Kamal Ahmed, son over graft

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and his son Shaheed Ahmed Majumder for allegedly acquiring assets which are inconsistent with their known income sources, reports BSS.
Besies, the ACC also decided to issue an order to submit a wealth statement in the name of his wife Shahida Kamal, Director General (prevention) of the anti-graft watchdog Md Akhter Hossain told journalists on Monday.
He said Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, misusing the state-power, amassed assets worth over Tk 129.6 million which is inconsistent with the shown sources of income.
Apart from that, the ACC found him involved in making suspicious transactions in 10 bank accounts involving over Tk 2.96 billion.
Son Shaheed Ahmed Mojumder also acquired huge amount of assets worth about Tk 20 million, which is beyond his income sources, the DG said.
The ACC official said there are no valid papers of income taxes and bank accounts' statements of Shahida Kamal.
