Actor Siddique on remand in uprising killing case

A Dhaka court has placed actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of furniture store employee Pervej Bepari during the July Mass Uprising, reports BSS.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday after police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Earlier on August 20, 2025, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain had shown Siddique arrested in the case.

On April 29, 2025, a group of 10 to 15 people intercepted and assaulted Siddique while he was walking along the city's Bailey Road area and later handed him over to police. According to case documents, Pervej Bepari (23) came under attack after Jumma prayers, leaving Pervej critically injured.
