Dismissing Khaleda Zia's personal physicians' claim that she suffered a mild stroke in jail, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said on Sunday her physicians were spreading it just to get court sympathy, reports UNB.
"It's not true that she (Khaleda) had a mild stroke. It's also not true that she became senseless or remained senseless. She had dizziness following a fall in her blood sugar level," Mahbubey Alam said.
He was addressing a press briefing at his office after the High Court adjourned the hearing on a petition filed by Khaleda seeking bail in a Cumilla arson case.
The BNP chairperson's four personal physicians who met her at the Old Central Jail earlier on Saturday assumed that she might have suffered a mild stroke on June 05.
"Khaleda Zia collapsed on the ground on June 05 but she cannot recall anything of the incident. We think she suffered a mild stroke," Prof SM Siddique of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Medicine Department told reporters.
