AL leader held for Muttakim murder

Police on Sunday midnight arrested an Awami League (AL) leader from the city's Shah Ali Thana area in connection with Muttkim Billah murder by firing indiscriminate gunshots at the anti-discrimination student movement, reports BSS.

The arrestee is Md Alamgir Hossain, a member of ward no-8 Awami League.

On a tip-off, Mirpur Model Thana Police apprehended Alamgir from Priyanka Housing area under Shah Ali Thana on Sunday midnight.

He is accused in Muttakim Billah murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station on October 5 last.

The case details said leaders and activists of the AL and its associate bodies opened indiscriminate fires at the student-people movement in Mirpur-10 area on July 19.

Muttakim suffered critical bullet wounds in the firings and he was first taken to Ibne Sina Hospital at Kallayanpur from where he was shifted to Global Specialised Hospital at Mazar Road where he died during his treatment.
