AL leader held over 2015 attack on Khaleda's motorcade

Police have arrested an Awami League (AL) leader from the capital's Karwan Bazar area in connection with the 2015 attack on the motorcade of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, reports UNB.

AL leader Saimon was arrested in the Karwan Bazar area on Monday evening in a case filed over the attack and attempted murder, said Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mobarak Hossain.

Earlier, on April 6, police arrested Sabbir Hossain, general secretary of the AL's Motijheel unit, in the same case.

The case was filed on August 22, 2024, nearly a decade after the incident occurred in April 2015 during a campaign for BNP's mayoral candidate Tabith Awal in the Dhaka North City Corporation elections.
