AL leaders, activists urged to strengthen party ahead of polls

Dipu Moni holds talks with SUST students

SYLHET, Feb 11 (BSS): Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has called upon the party leaders and workers to strengthen the organisation for the upcoming national elections.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is at the heart of the leadership of the irresistible pace in which Bangladesh is moving forward and we all have to continue this speed with our sincerity," she said.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with the leaders of Sylhet district and metropolitan Awami League at Sylhet Circuit House on Friday.

Local Union Parishad elections have already been completed across the country, the national elections are coming within the next two years, so party's leaders and activists have to hold up the pace of the development under the leadership of the Prime Minister, she said. Dipu Moni said the present government is a government of development, and a government of the people, which is working for the welfare of the people.

"Similarly, it is an education-friendly government as the government has worked for education all over the country," she added.

She also attended a meeting with students and teachers on the campus of Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

"We have done everything possible on behalf of the government to resolve the incident that took place at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology," she further said.

Deputy Minister for Education Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, Habibur Rahman Habib, MP, President of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Bir Muktijoddha Masuk Uddin Ahmed, Acting President of Sylhet District Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Professor Zakir Hossain, and District General Secretary Advocate Nasir Uddin were present.
