CHATTOGRAM, Sept 28: Leaders of Chattogram city unit of BNP have alleged today that some leaders of ruling Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies have turned Dhaka into a 'casino city', which was earlier popularly known as a city of mosques.

Addressing a rally of Swechchhasebak Dal held at BNP's city office Nasimon Bhaban at Kazir Dewri this morning, Chattogram city BNP president Dr Shahadat Hossain said, "Awami League has become a 'Hai Hai Company' now. Bangladesh is turning into a country of corruption. Awami League has changed the Dhaka city as a casino city. which was famous as a mosque city earlier."

The rally was arranged to protest police obstruction to holding a human chain programme demanding immediate release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Chaired by city Swechchhasebak Dal vice-president HM Rashed Khan and moderated by its general secretary Belayet Hossain Bulu, the rally was addressed by Shahadat Hossain as the chief guest.

City BNP vice president Abu Sufian addressed it as special guest.
