Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday ruled out the BNP's demand of holding dialogue with the ruling party ahead of the next Jatiya Sangsad election, reports BSS.

"The next general election will be held in line with the constitution and election-time government is an indispensible part of the constitution," he told a press conference at the party president's Dhanmondi political office in the city.

Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said the Election Commission (EC) will conduct the election as per the constitution in other parliamentary democratic countries and the entire polls-related things including law enforcement agencies will go under the EC during the election.

The minister said a small cabinet stays to conduct routine work of the government during the election period and the government cannot take any important decision at that time.

Quader said there is no complexity in holding the election as the country's constitution has given clear reference about holding of national election.

BNP is making political stance and chanting cheap slogans in the name of dialogue and the party's mindset is not liberal to hold a dialogue, he added.
