Amu, Mamun, six others shown arrested in fresh cases

A Dhaka court has showed eight people including former minister Amir Hossain Amu, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun arrested in different cases filed over crimes committed during the student-led July-August mass uprising, report agencies.
The others who were shown arrested are Sadek Khan, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal's son Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, Nazrul Islam Mazumder, Rajon Kumar Saha, Moshiur Rahman and Shamima Akter.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain passed the orders on Monday as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.
Of the eight, Amu was shown arrested in a murder case filed with Khilgaon Police Station, former lawmaker Sadek Khan in a Mohammadpur Police Station case, Mamun in a case filed with Adabor Police Station, Jyoti in Rampura Police Station case, NASSA Group chairman Nazrul in Uttara East Police Station, former assistant commissioner (AC) Rajon in a Badda Police Station case, former deputy commissioner (DC) of DMP Moshiur in another Badda Police Station case and Jubo Mohila League leader Shamima was shown arrested in a Tejgaon Police Station case.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Faridpur-4 lawmaker Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury alias Nixon Chowdhury and his wife Tarin Hossain over graft allegations, reports BSS. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
