Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said he would soon arrange appointment of eight district judges in eight Taxes Appellate Tribunals across the country, reports BSS.
"I would soon meet and discuss the matter with the Chief Justice and arrange the appointment of eight district judges in the tribunals," he said.
The minister came up with the observations while holding a meeting with a delegation of Bangladesh Tax Lawyers' Association at his ministry conference room.
The lawyers, at the meeting, said the eight tribunals concerned across the country are being run by only two tax commissioners and requested the minister to appoint a district judge to each of the tribunals.
The minister at the time opined for forming a three-member tribunal, headed by a district judge. Of the two remaining members, one would be an income tax official and the other one would be an income tax lawyer.
Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Senior Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque and Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar were present on the occasion, among others.
