Another cop testifies in Ramna Batamul explosion case

Another policeman has testified in the case filed under the Explosive Substances Act over 2001 Ramna Batamul blast incident, where 10 people were killed, reports BSS.

Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain, who verified the names and addresses of the accused in the case, testified as prosecution witness number 31 on Tuesday.

Earlier on May 20, Motiyar Rahman and Fazlul Haque submitted their depositions before Judge Abu Jafar Md Kamruzzaman of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 and was later cross-examined by the defence.

Ten people were killed as several bombs were blasted in the Barshabaran programme (traditional programme to welcome the first day of Bengali New Year) on April 14, 2001.

Then sub-inspector Kabir Hossain of Ramna Police Station filed the case over the incident. CID on November 29, 2008, filed two supplementary charge sheets in two cases, one for murder and another under explosive substances act, against 14 people including banned militant outfit Harkat ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) chief Mufti Abdul Hannan.
