Activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the Anti-discrimination Student Movement have blocked a road in Chattogram city demanding the removal of the chief of Patiya Police Station, reports bdnews24.com.
At around 4:00 pm on Wednesday, the protesters gathered outside the Chattogram Range DIG's office on Zakir Hossain Road and occupied the road.
An hour earlier, a group of youths identifying themselves as members of NCP and the student movement began chanting slogans outside the DIG office as part of their sit-in protest.
The demonstrators called on the DIG to come downstairs and listen to their demands.
At one point, they moved onto Zakir Hossain Road and stopped all traffic.
"We asked them to enter the DIG sir's office, but they insisted that he come down instead. Eventually, they went out to the street and began their sit-in there," Deputy Commissioner (North) Amirul Islam of Chattogram Metropolitan Police told reporters.
