President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury demanded on Tuesday formation of a 'national government' together with 'mature brains' for the next five years after holding a fair and credible nation election, reports UNB.
"We want a national government to be formed for five years immediately after the election to restore peace, public security and ensure the country's progress," he said.
The BDB chief made the comments while speaking at an Iftar party at Gulshan's All Community Club in honour of diplomats working in the city.
B Chowdhury, also a former President, said the national government will have to be formed pulling mature brains together for a better future of Bangladesh removing conflicts among political parties.
B Chowdhury said the country's people have long been suffering for four main problems--widespread corruption and bribery, limitless torture and repression, and strangulation of democracy, lack of the rule of law and tampering of the election process.
"The number one solution to the problems is to hold a proper and acceptable election. We together with people will realise it if you (govt) are unwilling to do so," he said.
Besides, the former President said, parliament must be dissolved 100 days before the election, army will have to be deployed to main law and order and ensure security of voters and people, the Election Commission must be reconstituted with brave and competent persons and strong steps must be taken to prevent post-election violence and torture on voters and political workers.
Speaking at the programme, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the entire country and the nation -- not any individual and particular party - - are now in crisis.
