Bagerhat AL leader Monsur Ali dies

Valiant freedom fighter and former general secretary of Bagerhat district Awami League (AL) Advocate Fakir Mohammad Monsur Ali passed away at a city hospital on Tuesday night after being infected with coronavirus, reports BSS.
He was 75.
Monsur Ali breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Hospital in the capital, family sources said.
He is survived by wife, two sons and a host of relatives and admirers.
Monsur Ali debuted politics by Chhatra League and served as general secretary of district AL from 1984 to 2004.
He also served as president and general secretary of Bagerhat District Lawyers Association for several terms.
Family sources said Monsur Ali's body was taken to Bagerhat Wednesday morning and he was buried at his family graveyard with state honour at 11 am after a namaj-e-janaza at Kachua upazila sadar.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of valiant freedom fighter and former general secretary of Bagerhat district Awami League Advocate Fakir Mohammad Mansur Ali.
In a condolence message, the premier prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
AL's general secretary Obaidul Quader and party's other central leaders also expressed deep shock and sorrow at his death.
